2018 Year in Review + Life Update

Happy #WeddingWednesday!

I have no clue if that is a real thing or if I just made that up, but I am going with it! The other day when I sat down at my computer monitor and wrote a list of all the blog posts I had to catch up on, I told myself that I was going to make my blog more personal in the parts where I write.

I want you guys {if anybody actually reads these!} to follow along with my wedding season but also with who I am as a person because I spend a lot of time in my office working at my computer.

I have to believe that there are people out there reading this, so if this is you; THANK YOU!

None of this would mean anything if I didn’t have the support and love from all of you and my amazing clients, because of you I get to do my passion as my job, so here’s a second THANK YOU!

2018 was a very big year for me as well as my company. 2018 was absolutely incredible with clients that were gorgeous, loving, interesting, and just overall my dream wedding clients. I walked into multiple weddings and thought “YES! This is what I’m talking about!”

Personally 2018 was huge as well. It was a year where I went full time in my photography business and stopped working other jobs (except All That Glitters, because I love it there and will never ever stop working there) and focused all my time and energy on being a full time business owner and staying home during the day with my daughter. Being a mom is probably the best thing in my life and it brings me such joy, so to be able to have a full season that gives me the opportunity and the security to not pay for daycare and keep her home with me during the day puts a smile on to my face. So from the bottom of my heart thank you so much.

Sometimes when people ask me what I do for a living I don’t always know how to answer them because I wear so many hats, but I tell them that I am a business owner and run my own photography business. Being 23 and being at the stage of life that I am at is absolutely a blessing to me because even though I sit at my computer until 3am sometimes, I do it because I genuinely love my clients and my work.

I mean, who wouldn’t love photographing amazing couples who are just crazy in love with each other?!

2018 held great things for us as a family as well. We moved from our tiny apartment to our house and after a year I am still working on settling in. I don’t know if it’s because I am picky or busy, but I will be honest and tell y’all that I don’t have much on my walls yet. It’s coming, I promise.

Enough about 2018, let’s talk about how 2019 is my year to really kickstart the creative side of my business. One of the reasons I am rambling this (and yes I am writing this at my computer at 2:30am) is because if you don’t tell anyone your goals or your dreams, there is nobody there to keep you accountable. And because I know that 2019 is my year, here are the goals that I am so excited to possibly reach this year. Ambition is strong in me, that’s for sure.

As a photographer one of the biggest accomplishments is to either win an award or to be published with a wedding that you did. 2019 is my year to get one of those goals, and judging by my line up for this season I think it is very possible with some dreamy couples and dreamy venues (I’m looking at you Stonefields and Aquatopia!).

I am very excited to put 2018 behind me, because as wonderful as it was it was also difficult and I am excited to crush 2019 and make it the best year yet both professionally and personally!

Cheers!

Samantha
