Ottawa Wedding Awards
This year I got nominated for Faces Magazine Ottawa Awards for Best Photographer. Second year in a row, and I am so honoured! Unfortunately I did not win but it was an absolute honour to be nominated with some of the best in Ottawa and not only for the wedding industry. There were tons of huge names on the list like a couple Ottawa Senators, some great businesses and restaurants in the city. It was amazing to have my name amongst theirs.
The second amazing thing is that I was nominated for a Ottawa Wedding Award for Best Wedding Photographer. Now that's an elite award to win, or even be nominated for! I also submitted some of my favourite images for the Platinum Awards. For example, Best Live Moment was this amazing image of Erin and her daughter at their wedding.
I couldn't make it to the Faces Award Ceremony as the ceremony was the same day that we were moving into our new house.
However, I did get to go to the Ottawa Wedding Awards and it was an absolute blast! I got to hang out with some awesome ladies in the industry that I have become great friends with over the last couple years. The ceremony was being held at the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata where weddings usually get held in its gorgeous ballroom. And I will say, it was breathtaking!!!
To get ready for this award ceremony I agonized over finding the perfect dress. When the dress code is formal, kind of black tie, it's hard to find something that was perfect. I found the perfect dress though! Meg from Norde Bridal, and creator of Arroh & Bow, created me one of their convertible dresses in exchange for a family session. So I agreed! A beautiful teal convertible dress that I chose to wear as a one shoulder. It was so comfortable and made me feels so glam!
A wonderful make up artist Artistry by Jacquie came to my place earlier that day to do my make up. And she was in for a challenge. I hadn't been sleeping well cause Ari hasn't been sleeping well either, you know, Momma problems. Jacquie had the difficult task of covering up the bags under my eyes as well as the redness on my cheeks that wouldn't go away no matter how much moisturizer I use. Don't even get me started about the zit on my chin that seemed to manifest over night, like it knew I had an important event the next day. But, she did an amazing job and I have to say I looked pretty damn amazing!
When it came to the hair I knew I wanted something to go with the drama of the make up and long dress. I spent a very long time going through youtube tutorials and trying to see which hairstyle I wanted. I chose a gorgeous side braid that Jackie went with and made super messy glam. I loved it, I got so many compliments on it.
The whole night was amazing. I had so much fun hanging out and dining with some incredible people. I loved celebrating everyone in the industry being recognized for their talents and their businesses. I loved every minute of it and can't wait for next year's award season!
Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners!!
Here's some more photos of the evening, compliments of myself, and Shea-Lyn Ann Photography.
