Summer Aquatopia Wedding// Holly + Alex

I always have a soft spot for when my high school friends get married, it’s just so amazing to be there and be able to photograph the happiest day of their lives after being with them since high school. Holly + Alex actually were one of the first Christian couples from my high school to get engaged. When Holly + Alex approached me for their wedding photos, I immediately said yes and was very happy that I was available. To be honest I didn’t even check what day of the week it was, and found out a couple weeks later that it was a Friday (which was fine, but my hubby got a good laugh at my expense!). Good reminder for next time, I always check the day of the week too when I check the availability!

Friday of their wedding day arrived and as I grabbed my gear to load my car I could feel my nerves starting to brim up to the surface. I don’t usually get nervous because I love my job and frankly I am good at it, but whenever the bride + groom is someone I know personally I get extra nervous. So I stopped at Starbucks on the way in and got my fave drink; Caramel Apple Spice. It was an absolute beautiful day out for their August wedding. It was a sunglasses and windows down kind of day, seriously my favourite days for weddings.

I sent my second shooter Josie to groom prep to meet up with Alex, and I went to bridal prep to meet up with Holly and her girls. Guys, I have to say walking into bridal prep was like a high school reunion. Most of the bridesmaids were in my grade at school and we all knew each other so the first little bit was all hellos and hugs!

Holly had her day planned perfectly from a gorgeous two piece dress from Revelle Bridal, a stunning groom wedding band from Stor By Margot, beautiful wine coloured Bill Levkoff dresses from All That Glitters, and absolutely stunning details! I mean just look at those shoes and perfume bottle! I always bring a container of bridal styling items to help make those flat lays, but I didn’t have to use very much because she had thought out all of her details beforehand, which made my creative heart sing!

Her ceremony was at her church in Stittsville and then we drove to Aquatopia for her photos and her cocktail style reception. I have never been to Aquatopia before and honestly I was blown away by the beauty and the absolute calmness of the water and plants. I plan on being back there as often as I can, it was that beautiful!

Enjoy the gallery and congratulations again Holly + Alex, the new Mr + Mrs!
